Please read these Terms of Use carefully before using the Analectic platform. By accessing our website or using our services, you agree to be bound by these terms.

1. Purpose and Nature of the Service

Analectic is an independent digital platform devoted to inspiration, philosophy, and wisdom. It presents quotations, thoughts, and biographical profiles of thinkers, scientists, leaders, and artists who shaped world history, rendered in an authentic typographical aesthetic.

2. Intellectual Property and Copyright

• Historical Quotations and Biographies: The vast majority of historical quotations and historical biographies hosted on the platform belong to the public domain and represent universal literary heritage.
• Design, Typography, and Codebase: The visual motifs, corner flourishes, typographical balance, logos, software engine, and algorithmic daily selection logic are the intellectual property of Analectic.
• Portraits: The portraits on the platform are not photographs but original illustrations created for Analectic. See Section 3 for details.

3. Portraits, Likeness, and Right of Objection

• Portraits are not photographs. The portraits shown on the platform and in the mobile app are original illustrations created for Analectic in an origami aesthetic, produced with the aid of artificial-intelligence tools. They are not copies, scans, or direct derivatives of any particular photograph.
• Their purpose is identification. Portraits serve as an editorial and educational device so that readers can tell whose words they are reading; they make no claim to be a documentary likeness of the person's actual appearance.
• No affiliation or endorsement. The presence of a person's name, words, or stylised portrait on the platform does not imply any connection, collaboration, endorsement, or sponsorship between that person, their estate or representatives, or any institution, and Analectic.
• Right of objection. Anyone requesting the removal of a portrait or quotation, on their own behalf or on behalf of a person they represent, may write to contact@analectic.app. Requests are reviewed within a reasonable period, and where entitlement is clear the content is withdrawn from publication. This process is operated voluntarily, beyond our legal obligations.
• Attribution and corrections. Quotations are published with attribution wherever the source is known. Reports of misattribution, incorrect life dates, or translation errors may be sent to the same address.

4. Permitted Use

• Users may download quote cards as images (PNG) for personal, educational, and non-commercial purposes and share them freely on social media with attribution.
• Any reverse engineering, automated scraping/crawling that overburdens server infrastructure, or malicious exploitation of the platform is strictly prohibited.

5. Disclaimer of Liability

• Content is curated for educational, reflective, and inspirational purposes. We make no warranties regarding absolute historical exhaustiveness.
• Analectic shall not be held liable for interpretations made by users or any indirect damages resulting from the use of quotes on third-party channels.

6. Mobile App and Your Saved Items

The quotes you like and save in the app, along with the folders you create, are stored on your device; no copy is kept on our servers. Backing up and safeguarding this data is the user's responsibility. Analectic cannot be held liable for data loss arising from deleting the app, resetting the device, turning off iCloud sync, or causes originating in the operating system. For details on where data is stored, see the corresponding section of the Privacy Policy.

7. Updates to Terms

Analectic reserves the right to amend these Terms of Use in accordance with legal and operational developments. Revisions take effect immediately upon publication.
